Web Design and Email Design– universes apart

Digital design, specifically “web” design, has gone through many evolutions. I specifically put web in quotes because I want to be clear that: web design and HTML email design are not the same!

There was the time when HTML was fairly archaic, and the coolest thing around was the HTML Marquee. Anyone else remember that?
Remembering the marquee… oh how I missed you!

Of course times changed, new standards were created and new tools became available to web designers. The introduction of CSS (cascading style sheets) allowed a web designer to do some amazing work of art. The web changed, new HTML standards were introduced. This is all good news, right? Well… yes of course, except that email clients (e.g. Outlook, Gmail, etc) only support some of these standards.

Your web site designer may not be able to create HTML emails that render properly. We see this time and time again. A customer comes to us with a custom made email which does not render properly in one or more of the major email clients. Or worst yet, the HTML has a scripting language such as Javascript embed in it (which is a big no, no).
We started offering our custom HTML email design service because we saw so many poorly made HTML emails. This is also why we coded our own email editor which can be used to update these email templates without ruining the rendering. And finally, this is why we offer our Email Analyzer– so clients can make sure that the emails they send are professional.
We believe that sending out a professional email that renders properly is very important, and we also believe that you’ll agree. Then again, we believe in a lot of things.
